Our goal and commitment is to provide fully trained lawn personnel with the knowledge to identify turf diseases, tree and shrub diseases, and all insects in our zone that are harmful to our landscapes. This starts with our maintenance guide.

This is the guide we follow to ensure quality and healthy landscapes. This will also help you understand what you are getting for your dollar. We will start with the month of January and give you a guide through each month.

Lawn Care Monthly Schedule


January - 2 visits/month

  • Clean all beds thoroughly and remove leaves out of shrubs
  • Limb up any ornamental trees/shrubs
  • Mow the grass height down by 1/4-1/2 inch
  • Prune crape myrtles and ornamental grasses
  • Deadhead all annuals
  • Weed control in all turf areas with root-development fertilizer
  • Spray horticultural oil on all evergreens to kill dormant fungi and insect eggs fertilize perennials and flowering shrubs
  • Blow off all pavement areas each visit including decks and porches
  • Weekly weed control of beds
  • Conduct site inspection by Maintenance Manager

February - 2 visits/month

  • Clean all beds thoroughly and remove leaves out of shrubs
  • Prune roses and butterfly bushes
  • Apply systemic insecticides in all ornamental trees and shrubs ornamental
  • Cut back liriope and all other winter perennials
  • Mow grass height down by 1/4-1/2 inch
  • Enhance bed lines if needed
  • Deadhead all annuals
  • Weekly weed control of beds
  • Conduct site inspection

March - 2 visits/month

  • Clean all beds thoroughly
  • Continue lowering the height of Bermuda gradually until it reaches 1 inch
  • Fertilize all ornamental trees and shrubs and perennials
  • Apply second application of pre-emergent with high nitrogen based fertilizer to prevent weeds and promote growth
  • Start cutting Fescue every 2 weeks
  • Weekly weed control of beds

April - Weekly

  • Clean all beds thoroughly
  • Keep mowing the Bermuda at 1 inch and start mowing every week
  • Start mowing Fescue every week at 2.5-3 inch
  • Turn on irrigation system after April 15 and check for leaks/ adjust times/adjust all sprinkler heads
  • Trim all ornamental evergreen trees
  • Weekly weed control of beds
  • Aerate Bermuda and other warm-season grasses
  • Conduct site inspection

May - Weekly

  • Clean all beds thoroughly
  • Keep mowing Bermuda at 1-1.5 inches every week
  • Mow fescue weekly at 3 inches
  • Pruning shrubs (natural prune) and shaping training roses and other climbers
  • Edge beds on a weekly basis
  • Deadhead perennials
  • Fertilize warm-season turf
  • Weekly weed control of beds
  • Conduct site inspection

June - Weekly

  • Clean all beds thoroughly
  • Raise mower decks up 1/4 inch for warm-season turf 1/2 inch for cool-season turf
  • Prune all shrubs (Natural prune) and shaping training roses and other climbers
  • Deadhead annuals and perennials, roses etc....
  • Look for insects and fungus on turf, trees, and shrubs (aphids)
  • Fertilize all perennials and annuals and other flowering shrubs
  • Prune azaleas (all pruned shrubs should be watered well within 24 hours)
  • Spray fungicide as needed
  • Inspect all trees and shrubs
  • Weekly weed control of beds
  • Conduct site inspection

July - Weekly

  • Raise mower decks up 1/4 inch for warm-season turf 1/2 inch for cool-season turf
  • Edge beds on a weekly basis
  • Weekly weed control of beds
  • Mow cool-season turf every 2 to 3 weeks at 4 inches
  • Adjust sprinkler settings as required
  • Deadhead all perennials and annuals as needed
  • Look for insects and fungus on turf, trees, and shrubs (aphids)
  • Fertilize warm-season grasses and cool-season grasses
  • Apply high-phosphorous fertilizer to crepe myrtles and all other flowering shrubs
  • Conduct site inspection

August - Weekly

  • Mow every week depending on weather conditions
  • Edge beds on a weekly basis and enhance all bed lines
  • Weekly weed control of beds
  • Prune shrubs if needed (water shrubs within 24 hours after pruning)
  • Clean up crepe myrtles
  • Deadhead perennials and annuals roses
  • Fertilize warm-season grass/ spray out all weeds in cool-season grass to prepare for aeration and overseeding
  • Conduct site inspection

September - Weekly

  • Maintain warm-season grass at 1-2 inches
  • Bring Fescue down to 3 inches
  • Aerate and overseed all Fescue areas
  • Prune all shrubs
  • Cut back hydrangeas towards end of month
  • Check for aphids and white flies on shrubs and perennials
  • Mow, blow, and edge of beds every week
  • Weekly weed control of beds
  • Conduct site inspection

October - Weekly

  • Start leaf removal and blow out all beds
  • Fertilize trees and shrubs
  • Pre-emergent to turf areas (warm season only)
  • Fertilize fescue or apply lime if needed
  • Conduct site inspection bi-weekly

November - Weekly

  • Continue leaf removal
  • Edge beds twice a month
  • Fertilize cool-season grasses
  • Conduct site inspection

December - Weekly

  • Leaf removal
  • Lime all grass areas (per soil test)
  • Conduct site inspection
