Core Aeration

Core Aeration, Atlanta, GA Core aeration is an effective strategy for remedying compact soil. We recommend that aeration must be conducted at least once a year. Using our aerators, we will remove cores approximately 4" long/deep from the lawn. Our trained employees will aerate your lawn in an overlapping pattern to maximize the results. Our unique approach helps you get the full benefits and not just half measures.

Core aeration pulls soil plugs from your lawn to aerate and allow thatch, sand, and air to enter. Soil also relieves compaction. It has many benefits, such as:

  • Reduces compaction
  • Reduces thatch in the lawn
  • Stimulates root growth
  • Great bed for overseeding, giving you great seed to soil contact
  • Increases the flow of nutrients such as oxygen, water, and fertilizer

"Compaction" is a term applied to soil which, deprived of proper aeration, suffers from excessive water runoff and poor conditions for plant rooting. Soil compaction can be corrected mechanically through core aeration; in nature, earthworms do a good job of working against soil compaction. In reference to compost bins, compaction occurs under anaerobic conditions. Turning a compost pile frequently is one way to avoid such compaction.
